Naming of new pedestrian/cycle bridge linking Proby’s Quay/Crosses Green to South Main Street via the former Beamish & Crawford Brewery site.
Background
The new bridge is scheduled to open to the public in early 2026. The bridge will provide a safe and convenient connection between the City Centre and communities to the west including key destinations such as St Fin Barre’s Cathedral, UCC Etc.
The 25‑metre long steel arch bridge, manufactured off‑site, was installed in 2025. Final works to enhance the surrounding public realm are now underway, including the development of a dedicated pedestrian and cyclist route through the former brewery site, linking directly to South Main Street. This new connection will provide a safe and convenient route for both residents and visitors, making this historic quarter of Cork City more accessible and inviting for all.
