Stage 1 Baseline: Initial Assessment of the Area
The North Blackpool Kilbarry Expansion area was identified in the Core Strategy for growth for the Cork City Development Plan 2022-2028, which plans out the city's growth up to 2040. It addresses the need for housing in combination with the provisions of critical infrastructure, anchored around the plans for a new train Station in Kilbarry and the proposed Northern Distributor Multimodal Road.
Cork City Council has commenced the preliminary work on the Framework Plan, starting with a baseline appraisal and feasibility phase. Studies and appraisals have been done to evaluate the current conditions, constraints and opportunities within the Study area.
We are reaching out to the local community who live, work and visit the area to gather insights on what are the challenges and needs of the area.
